About Me

Hi!

I’m Cris, a localisation expert with +15 years of experience in the translation industry who can translate from English, Portuguese, and Catalan into European Spanish.

In a nutshell, I’m a creative translator. I’m passionate about empowering global brands to reach Spanish customers with slick marketing content that won’t get lost in translation.

Originally from the land of Don Quixote in the sunny and vibrant heart of Spain, I pursued my dreams by moving to the UK at the age of 22. After spending 11 years in London, I recently returned to Spain to embark on a new freelance adventure, driven by my passion for localisation, travel, technology, sports, media, and marketing/advertising. I have an MA in Translation and Interpretation studies and have been working in the language sector since I graduated from university in 2008.

What I love most about my job is working on creative translation and transcreation projects. I provide linguistic services for two of the Big Five tech companies every day and also translate social media and marketing content for various international hotels, tourism and sports organisations, as well as prestigious travel and design brands. I have also gained valuable experience working as an English and Spanish interpreter for business and educational meetings in London, Madrid, and Barcelona, and at public notary offices, using my language skills to facilitate the purchase of overseas properties and to complete the transfer of company shares.

I’m a curious traveller, having visited 71 countries so far (and counting!), and I’m passionate about cycling—particularly road cycling.

If you think we could be a good match, drop me a line using the email address below to discuss your language needs. I promise I’ll make the process as smooth, easy, and convenient as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Great question! Spanish is spoken by over 600 million people worldwide, making it one of the three most widely spoken languages in the world. We can all understand each other, but each region has its own vocabulary, accents, and expressions—just as British and American English do. That said, I’m from Spain, so I speak European Spanish. And since I grew up in La Mancha, in central Spain, my Spanish is Castilian—what many would consider the ‘standard’ variety. This can be important when brands need their content to connect with a specific market.

Most of my work is protected by NDAs—a clear sign that brands trust me with their most valuable content. I work every day with world-renowned clients whose names I can’t disclose, but whose standards demand absolute quality and confidentiality. Rest assured, your content would receive the exact same level of care and discretion if we work together.

I can, but I’ll be collaborating with a trusted colleague to ensure the process goes smoothly. I translate only into my native language—Spanish (Spain)—even though I’m fluent in other languages. Once I receive the translated content, I proofread it and perform a quality check (what we call an LQA) to make sure you get the highest-quality result. If anything is unclear or I have a question about the text, I liaise directly with the translator, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. I’m more than happy to manage the entire process myself, as I have strong project management skills (I worked as a Translation Project Manager for years before becoming a Freelance Translator, and many of my clients appreciate the smooth, easy solutions I provide).

I’m not, as legal translations aren’t one of my specialities. However, I can either recommend a trusted colleague or manage the whole project for you—whichever suits you best.

It really depends on the project—no two projects are the same! If you send me the content you need translated, I’ll review it and provide a quote based on factors like word count, requested deadline, level of difficulty, language combination, industry, and so on.

When you need a translation, simply send me an email with the text you’d like translated in attachment and as many project details as possible, such as who the target audience is, what tone of voice you prefer (formal or informal), and any specific terminology you’d like me to use. Once I receive your message, I’ll review the content carefully to prepare an accurate quote. Within one business day, you’ll receive an email with the total cost, turnaround time, and payment terms. If you’re happy with everything, I’ll get started on your project right away, and you’ll receive your translation by the agreed deadline (or even earlier) in the same format as the source text.
